Requirements
Dyad Cam records from two lenses at the same time. This requires an iPhone XS or newer. On older devices the app will open but display a message explaining that simultaneous capture is not available.
The lenses, resolutions and frame rates you can actually select depend on your iPhone model. Dyad Cam only offers the combinations your hardware is able to run.
Frequently asked questions
Why do I get two files instead of one?
That is the point of the app. Each lens records independently, so you end up with one vertical file and one horizontal file from a single take. No cropping needed afterwards.
How do I match the two files in my editing software?
Both files carry the same timestamp and are suffixed A and B. They share the same audio track and the same time origin, so they line up automatically on the timeline.
Where are my recordings saved?
In your photo library, provided you allowed add-only access on first use. You can turn this off in the app settings, in which case files stay inside the app.
Can I take photos as well?
Yes. The PHOTO and VIDEO selector sits just above the shutter button. In photo mode, one tap captures two images at your two chosen crops.
Why can I not select 4K or 60 fps?
Simultaneous capture from two lenses shares a single hardware budget. Dyad Cam reads what your device actually supports and only lists workable options. Open Settings, then Hardware, then Available formats to see the raw list for your current lens pair.
The app says the device is heating up. What should I do?
Recording two streams is demanding. Dyad Cam warns you before the system throttles quality, and closes your files cleanly rather than losing the take. Let the phone cool down, or switch to a lower resolution.
Does Dyad Cam collect any data?
No. There is no account, no tracking and no network connection. Everything happens on your iPhone.
